National Bank of Egypt (NBE) supports all existing and new micro-enterprises in all economic sectors, including the commercial, service, industrial, agriculture and handicraft sectors.

These enterprises are directly supported via the following programs:

Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency (MSMEDA) program (“Tamkeen Microfinance Project” contract to finance new and existing micro-enterprises nationwide)
1- Purpose of finance:

  • Finance the purchase of new machinery and/or used or imported machinery and equipment. (as per the conditions stated by the bank)
  • Finance the working capital of new and existing enterprises.
  • Finance livestock projects.
  • Finance the project’s fixtures and finishing, along with funding the working capital and/or equipment.
  • Finance medical centers, clinics, pharmacies owned by doctors working in the public, business and private sectors.
2- Maximum finance:

  • Up to EGP 750,000.
3- Term of finance:

  • Up to 5 years.

Direct lending under “Mashroak” program

NBE cooperates with the Ministry of Local Development (MLD) to provide finance via NBE’s representatives present at various local units nationwide.
1- Purpose of finance:

  • Finance the purchase of machinery, equipment and fixtures.
  • Finance working capital. (Processing ores and expenses)
  • Finance livestock projects.
  • Finance Business owners and self-employed.
  • Finance the purchase of cars. (as per the conditions stated by the bank)
2- Maximum finance:

  • Starting from EGP 25,000 without ceiling, as per the relevant credit study.
3- Term of finance:

  • Up to 5 years.

These enterprises are indirectly supported via NBE’s services provided to microfinance associations and companies, namely:

  • Extending credit facilities to microfinance institutions.
  • Coordinating with different microfinance institutions to use credit facilities via electronic payment channels and provide such facilities to micro-enterprises.
  • Financing natural villages indirectly via microfinance institutions for development and sustainability purposes.
  • Providing technical support to customers of on lending institutions.
  • Offering different NBE products, such as Al Ahly Payroll, Al Ahly Net, etc.
  • Installing ATMs adjacent to business locations of these institutions.
  • Installing POS machines at branches of microfinance institutions.
